This is the first time I've hosted a questionnaire linky party, but I am so stinkin' excited! I think it will be fun to read everyone's responses, tomorrow! Don't forget to come back & link up your post.... and please, please join in the fun!
So... here goes!
1) What is your favorite "Mama Sayin'"?
I always say, "Why do we do it? Because mama said do it!" She's two. It's my spin on "Because I said so!". I can't wait to use, "If (Sally) jumped off of a bridge, would you do it, too?!" My mama used that one when she was referring to us falling for peer pressure. Keepin' it real, mama. Keepin' it real.
2) What is one thing that your family expects from you - they couldn't do without you?
Bodily Fluids.
My husband doesn't do well with bodily fluids. It's pretty funny to watch. Sometimes I'll act like I'm extremely busy, just to sneak up on him & laugh. So, if there's a diaper to be changed, vomit to be cleaned up, etc., I am the one to do it. I cannot imagine doing that for anyone other than my sweet baby girl. Isn't that strange?
3) When do you have "me" time, and what do you do?
Me time? What is that?!
I struggled with an answer for this one, because I am not really sure that I get "me" time, nor does it bother me... but, I do have a wonderful group of girlfriends, and we try to do a girls' night at least once a month. We go get pedicures/manicures, go to dinner, do crafts together, etc. Other than that, I love to spend time with my husband after the little one goes to bed. We watch movies, talk, and enjoy each others' company... he is always joking with me, though, because if I get still, I go to sleep. We can start a movie, and five minutes into it, I'm snoring.
4) What piece of your wardrobe do you think screams, "I'm a mama!"?
Two words.
Elastic. pants.
I used to make fun of my mom for wearing elastic pants. I have workout pants that I wear around the house and some capris, and they have elastic bands. oh. my. Those things are comfy, but they definitely scream, "I'm a mama!" Yikes!
5) Name one funny experience that you've had since you've been a mama.
One of the things that comes with a toddler is a loud mouth. LOUD. That girl has a set of lungs on her that could replace an loud speaker at a sporting event. Throw potty training in the mix, and personal information gets broadcasted. We were at a restaurant a few months ago, and I excused myself from the table to go to the ladies room. She proceeded to tell the restaurant that, "MOMMY'S GOING POTTY!" with a few extra pieces of information. Some of which was true, some not. You know, she gets really proud of herself when she does those things... adults try to keep it under wraps. An old lady came by the table and said, "You are so stinkin' cute! But, I bet your mama didn't want you to tell us all that she went to the potty!" Haha! Mortified. I'm sure I'll laugh about it in a few years - when I can taunt her for it. But for now, she's still excited about the fact that I go potty. Oh, children.
6) Do you have a weird habit that you've developed as a mama?
Have you seen the spit face clean? Mamas are notorious for it. It's weird. I've done it. I used to cringe when my mama would do it. Gross. And now, I do it.
7) Have you had a moment when you wonder, "How did I get to become a
mama?" (You know... like locking your child in the car with the keys
inside?) What happened?
So, we decided to put a fish in her room. We had multiple catastrophes with the fish.
First, she tried to plant cucumber plants in there. Then, she helped me gather eggs one morning, and hid an egg from me... she cracked the egg in the fish tank for the fish to eat. That was the day I gave up, and moved the fish to the Koi pond, and cleaned the tank out of the room. BUT - I forgot to take the fish food off of the shelf. I went in one day, and she had eaten the whole container of fish food! I freaked out, and called poison control. They said that she had just gotten an extra dosage of vitamins that day...
I promise - under this hair dye is a whole lotta grey!
8) What is your favorite thing about being a mom?
I ask myself every day how I got so lucky.
She is the BIGGEST blessing in such a tiny body, and she inspires me to push myself to be a better person.
If you haven't had a chance to read her story, you can read it
here.
She has been through more in her short little life, than I ever probably will.
She loves with all she has. Her giggles are from deep inside her tummy - not superficial.
She prays with sincerity and talks to God in a simple, real way.
She is a best friend. Confidant. The only thing I've ever loved so deeply.
I am amazed at the fact that God gave her to me.
I can't wait to see what He has in store for her, and I'm so thankful that I'm along for the ride!
I hope you're joining in on the fun, too! Make sure to come back, tomorrow to link up your post!
