Christmas in July - A Couple Of My Garage Sale Bargains

I can't stress enough how important it is to shop yard sales/garage sales/flea markets/thrift stores anykindashoppingthatyouarentpayingfullpricefor.  DO. NOT. PAY. FULL. PRICE.  You see, the cool thing about Christmas decor is that it doesn't go out of style.  I have purchased 99% of my Christmas decor at garage sales.  Your money goes so much farther....

(((Excuse the photos - I took them with my cell phone last Christmas)))

I purchased this entire village for $10.  I also have (this year) purchased more pieces for it for $1 a house, or bundle of decor.... It's going to be too large to put on the sofa table, now, and it cost around $20!

I know it's hard to see, but the Santa topper is made with a velvet coat, satin details, and a beautiful porcelain face.  I've seen them in home decor stores and craft stores retailing for roughly $50 - $60.  I got mine at a garage sale for $10.  It stands about 2 feet tall.  The Christmas tree was purchased at a thrift store for $25.  It is 6.5 feet tall.  Bargain?  I'd say so.

Just wait until tomorrow afternoon.... I've got more to share!!!  I never overlook Christmas at a garage sale!

  1. FINALLY..I hv been waiting for you to post since 7:30 a.m...for real!
Heather I love the christmas village scene. It LOOKS LIKE you hid the clear lites under the cotton?? I do that under my main C. tree. I saw Martha Stewart do it so I know I am not the first. I had a beautiful fancy tree skirt [yes BARGAIN] BUT it seemed too predictable..am loving this choice..the simplicity, the drama [gramma giggles]
Ihope you get a chance to follow Liz's garage "sailing" on Quirky Vistas..that lady knows how to pinch the pennies for precious finds.

  2. I love a good bargain. I shop mostly in our local thrift shops and yard sales. Last week I bought a brand new, still in the box Mr. Coffee pod machine and a brand new smoothie machine for $10.00 each. I also purchased a large solid wood armoire for my sewing room for 75.00. Usually, when I am out it is to look for something that I need. I am on the hunt for furniture for my sewing room, so I was thrilled to find the armoire. Now, for a sewing desk!!!

I think the hunt is all part of the fun as long as you don't junk up to much, then you have to have your own yard sale!
